4-Methyl-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be an effective coupling partner in the oxidative carbonylation of alkenes. It is also used as a reagent and catalyst for the synthesis of quaternary ammonium salts. 4-Methyl-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one can react with dimethylamine and pyridine to form morpholine or functionalized amides. The compound can also react with halides, lysine, and glutamic acid to form stable products. 4-Methyl-1,3-oxazolidin-2-one has a low melting point, which makes it suitable for use in high temperature reactions.
