Description :
2-Methoxybutanoic acid is a fatty acid and pharmaceutical excipient. It is a white solid that is soluble in water, ethanol, ether, and chloroform. 2-Methoxybutanoic acid has been shown to be an antagonist of the AT1 receptor, which may be useful for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease as well as other degenerative diseases. The compound has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. 2-Methoxybutanoic acid reacts with silver ions to form a complex that can inhibit bacterial growth. This reaction product may be useful for the prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases such as bronchitis or pneumonia.
