7-Methylquinolin-8-ol is a zwitterion that has been synthesized from 8-hydroxyquinoline and maltol. It is an organic ligand with alkyl derivatives, which has been shown to have thermodynamic and kinetic properties. 7-Methylquinolin-8-ol has a molecular structure with two nitrogen atoms and an 8-hydroxyquinoline group. 7-Methylquinolin-8-ol forms stable complexes with metal ions that are extractants for other compounds. 7-Methylquinolin-8-ol has also been found to be a potential photoelectron donor in the formation of molecular orbitals.
