2-Morpholin-4-ylpropyl)amine is an analgesic and antiamnesic drug that is used in the treatment of acute pain. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of bacterial growth, with activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. 2-Morpholin-4-ylpropyl)amine prevents the formation of DNA by inhibiting DNA synthesis and RNA transcription. The mechanism of action is thought to be due to its ability to react with electrophilic sites on proteins, such as amino groups and thiols on cysteine residues in proteins. Antiphlogistic effects have also been reported for 2-morpholin-4-ylpropyl)amine. This drug inhibits prostaglandin synthesis through inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX).
