6-Methoxy-quinolin-8-ylamine is an aliphatic hydrocarbon that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the bacterial ribosome and preventing protein synthesis. 6-Methoxy-quinolin-8-ylamine has been shown to be active against k562 cells, which are a human erythroleukemia cell line. This compound also has a site specific effect on the human liver and urine samples. 6-Methoxy-quinolin-8-ylamine may be metabolized by microbial enzymes through glucuronide conjugation or hydrogen bonding with cellular proteins, which can then lead to its inhibition.
