• Description: Methyl (2E)-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)acrylate is a natural compound, which belongs to the group of ferulate esters. It has been shown that methyl (2E)-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)acrylate inhibits the activity of esterases, which are enzymes that hydrolyze esters. This inhibition leads to an accumulation of ferulic acid in the blood, which is associated with bowel disease. Methyl (2E)-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)acrylate has been shown to be effective against murine hepatoma cells and polymorphonuclear leucocytes, which are white blood cells that can be found in the blood and other tissues. The inhibitory effect on these cells may be due to its ability to bind to ferulic acid and caffeic acids.
