Description

1-(2-Methylphenyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione is a solvatochromic dye that changes color with temperature. It has been shown to be operational in the organic solvent, fulfills industrial requirements, and has optical properties. The compound has been found to have an alkyl substituent on the aromatic ring and can be used as a colorant in paints and plastics. 1-(2-Methylphenyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione has been found to undergo photochemical reactions when exposed to sunlight or artificial light sources. This compound is also useful for the polymerization process because of its ability to copolymerize with other monomers such as methyl methacrylate and ethyl groups.
