Description :
6-Methylpyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is a metabolite that has been identified in urine samples of humans. It is the methyl derivative of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid, and it is formed by the interaction of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid with methyl groups and carbon sources such as methanol or ethanol. 6MPAA is oxidized to form an alkylpyrazine, which then reacts with oxygen atoms to form a carboxylate. 6MPAA can be found in bacteria like Dermatitidis, but not in higher organisms.
