4-Methoxy-2-nitrobenzene-1-sulfonyl chloride is an expansion agent that inhibits the activity of matrix metalloproteinases, specifically those involved in inflammation. It is a trisubstituted trifluoroacetic acid with a traceless, solid-phase synthesis to provide a mononuclear blood assay. 4-Methoxy-2-nitrobenzene-1-sulfonyl chloride has been shown to reduce the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as TNFα, by inhibiting the activity of metalloproteinases and their substrates. This agent may be useful for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
