Description

6-Methoxybenzothiazole is a heterocyclic compound that has been shown to have anticancer properties. It is an effective inhibitor of DNA synthesis and protein synthesis in cancer cells due to its structural similarity to 2-deoxyribose. 6-Methoxybenzothiazole has been synthesized by the reaction of sodium carbonate with aniline, acetic anhydride, and methyl iodide. The synthesis involves a nucleophilic substitution reaction between methylamine and hydroxyl group on the benzothiazole ring. The mesomorphic form of 6-methoxybenzothiazole is stable in both acidic and basic conditions. Sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and magnesium sulfate can be used as neutralizing agents for 6-methoxybenzothiazole.
