Description :
6-Methoxybenzofuran is a scalable, environmentally friendly and optimized process for the production of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde anhydride. The reaction is carried out using chloroacetic acid and chloroacetic anhydride to produce 6-methoxybenzofuran. This compound can be demethylated with sodium methoxide to produce 2-methoxybenzaldehyde, which can be used in the synthesis of other compounds.
