Description

Methylcyclohexaneacetate is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH3C(O)CH(OH)CH3. It is a hydroxy-functionalized cyclohexane derivative. The molecule has two chiral centers, which are both in the 4-position of the ring. The methyl group at C4 and the OH group at C5 are R-configured, and the OH group at C2 and the methyl group at C6 are S-configured. Methylcyclohexaneacetate can be used as a pharmaceutical preparation to treat malonic aciduria, uv absorption, water vapor, or as an analog for prostaglandin E1. This compound also has clotting activity and is used to synthesize novel proteases that have bromodomain or ns3 protease activity.
