Informations sur le produit
- (2-Methyl-3-nitrophenyl)acetonitrile
- 2-Methyl-3-nitrobenzyl cyanide
2-Methyl-3-nitrobenzylcyanide is a cyanide salt that is used in the synthesis of organic compounds. This compound is produced by the nitration of 2-methylbenzyl alcohol and subsequent reaction with sodium cyanide. The crystal structure of this compound has been determined by X-ray crystallography and found to have a monoclinic space group P2/c, with cell parameters a=5.890Å, b=8.637Å, c=5.971Å, β=105.49°. The hydrogen bonding interactions are shown to be primarily between the nitro groups and the hydroxyl groups on the benzene ring.
2-Methyl-3-nitrobenzylcyanide can be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis or as a reagent for chlorination reactions.
