Description :
2-Mercaptomethylpyrazine is a heterocyclic compound with the molecular formula C5H6S. It has a pyridine ring and an alcohol group in its chemical structure. 2-Mercaptomethylpyrazine is an isomer of 2-mercaptopyridine, which has one more hydrogen atom on the pyridine ring. 2-Mercaptomethylpyrazine has been used as a synthetic radioprotector and has also shown to have enhancing effects for other therapeutic agents, such as chlorpromazine. It also shows high concentrations at body temperature and can be used to synthesize other compounds with functional groups such as aldehydes.
