Description :
Methyl 1-methylcyclopropyl ketone is a carbonyl compound that is used in the synthesis of pesticides. It has a nitrate group, which can be reduced to an amino group by hyperconjugation. It has been shown to have insecticidal properties. Methyl 1-methylcyclopropyl ketone is also a stereoselective reagent for the preparation of β-unsaturated compounds such as thiobenzophenones and thioketones. The racemic form of methyl 1-methylcyclopropyl ketone can be obtained from the chiral trihydrate form by crystallization with water.
