Description

O-Methylisourea hydrochloride is a methanol solvent with inhibitory properties. It inhibits the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and other receptors in human serum. This compound also has an asymmetric synthesis that results in the production of two types of isomers, one of which has a reactive hydrogen atom that can be used to bind to the receptor. The hydrogen bond formed between the receptor and O-methylisourea hydrochloride enhances inhibitory activity. The analytical chemistry technique used to identify this compound is gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
