Description

3-Methyl-4-isopropylaniline hydrochloride is an anion that can be found in the form of a white crystalline solid. It reacts with chloride to produce 3-methyl-4-chloroaniline hydrochloride. This chemical compound can also be obtained by reacting vinylacetylene and phthalimide, which is then treated with strontium, or by reacting a Grignard reagent with γ-aminobutyric acid. 3-Methyl-4-isopropylaniline hydrochloride is used as a reagent in organic synthesis, where it is used for the preparation of organometallic compounds. The element strontium is added to the reaction to help stabilize the intermediate anion.
