Description

Methyl cyanoformate is a compound that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of dimethyl fumarate. It has been shown to be an enzyme inhibitor, which may be useful for the treatment of coronary heart diseases. It is also a pharmacological agent with potential for use in treating congestive heart failure. The kinetic data for methyl cyanoformate was obtained from x-ray crystal structures and kinetic studies on the reactivity of nitrogen atoms. Methyl cyanoformate binds to receptors and blocks the binding of nitric oxide, leading to its anti-inflammatory properties.
