3-Methyl-3-pentanol is a monomer that belongs to the group of fatty alcohols. It is a substrate of pancreatic lipase and can be hydrolyzed by this enzyme. The inhibitory effect on the activity of pancreatic lipase has been shown in vitro using Covid-19 pandemic virus (H1N1), which causes influenza. 3-Methyl-3-pentanol also inhibits the activity of hexane, an analytical method for determining the concentration of organic solvents. This monomer has two isomers, 3-methylpentanoic acid and pentenoic acid, which have different molecular structures.
