Meconic acid has been shown to have significant interactions with other drugs, including sodium carbonate, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, and antipsychotics. Meconic acid also inhibits the activity of pestivirus, which affects the nervous system in rats. Studies on long-term toxicity have not been conducted. Meconic acid has been used as a treatment for curcuma aromatica induced hepatitis and is toxic to animals at high doses.
