Description

1-Methyl-3-(tetrahydro-3-furylmethyl)urea (1MTMU) is a neonicotinoid insecticide. It is used to control populations of insects, including aphids and leafhoppers, which are pests in agriculture. 1MTMU has been shown to be quantified in leaves by HPLC with detection limits of 0.01 ppm and recoveries of 92%. Quantification in wheat was found to be at 0.01 ppm with average recoveries of 94%, while quantification in corn was found to be at 0.06 ppm with average recoveries of 100%. The terminal residues were found to be at 0.0025 ppm on china cabbage, and were quantified in the range of 0.006 -0.035 ppm on soybeans. Nitenpyram was also found to have an average recovery of 100% when applied at a rate of 2 mg/kg on wheat.
