4-Methacrylamido-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine is a polymer that can be used as an additive in the production of plastics. It is also used as a stabilizer in the manufacture of paints and coatings. 4-Methacrylamido-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine has been shown to reversibly stabilize colloidal suspensions of polystyrene particles at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 60°C. This property could be used in the development of coatings for high temperature applications. 4-Methacrylamido-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine has been shown to have cytotoxic properties in cell culture and skin models.
