2-Methyl-1-phenylpropane is an aromatic hydrocarbon with a chemical formula C9H10. It is a liquid that has a laminar flow and is used as a solid catalyst for hydrogenation reactions. The compound can be used as an analytical method to detect coordination complexes, such as metal carbonyl complexes and metal alkyls. 2MP is usually used in conjunction with other compounds, such as pluronic p123, to increase the sensitivity of the detection process. 2MP can also be used in kinetic studies of chemical substances by using confocal microscopy to analyze changes in the thermal expansion of solids.
