Mapenterol hydrochloride is a drug that belongs to the class of β-agonists. It is used as a bronchodilator in asthma and other respiratory disorders. It also has been shown to have an effect on the gastrointestinal tract, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the release of gastric acid by binding to acid-producing cells in the stomach lining. Mapenterol hydrochloride can be detected by spectrometry in urine, plasma, and serum. The matrix effect must be taken into account when using this method because it affects spectral data from urine specimens. Recoveries were found to range from 96-105% for human urine samples containing mapenterol hydrochloride at concentrations ranging from 1.0-10 μg/mL. Matrix effects were corrected for by using two internal standards (mapenterol sulfate and metoprolol) with known concentrations in human urine samples that were prepared without any preservatives or inhibitors.
