(1R,4R)-2-Menthene-1,8-diol is an alkene that has been shown to have in vitro antioxidant activity. This compound also binds to both the CB2 and CB1 receptors with high affinity, which may be due to its hydrogen bonding interactions. (1R,4R)-2-Menthene-1,8-diol is a potential drug candidate for the treatment of inflammatory disorders such as arthritis. It has been shown in vitro that this compound inhibits the inflammatory response by decreasing cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2) enzyme activity and inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
