Description :
4-(3-Methoxybenzyl)piperidine is an antidepressant drug that belongs to the group of piperidine derivatives. It has a serotonin uptake inhibiting effect and an antidepressant-like effect in rats. The 5-HT1A receptor plays a key role in the mechanism of action. This drug has been shown to be effective for the treatment of depression, anxiety, and insomnia in humans. 4-(3-Methoxybenzyl)piperidine also blocks the serotonin transporter, leading to increased levels of serotonin in the synaptic cleft.
