Description

Methyl 2-oxocyclohexanecarboxylate is a synthetic chemical that belongs to the group of amines. It has an enolate group and a dihedral angle of about 120 degrees. Methyl 2-oxocyclohexanecarboxylate is used in aldol cyclization reactions, which are types of organic reactions that produce two different molecules from one molecule. It also reacts with potassium hydride to form an acetaldehyde derivative, which can be alkylated with another molecule to form a new compound. Methyl 2-oxocyclohexanecarboxylate is reusable and uncatalysed.
