3-Methyl histamine dihydrochloride is a chemical that can be found in urine samples and heart tissue. It is an amino acid that is not involved in protein synthesis. 3-Methyl histamine dihydrochloride has been shown to cause neuronal death, as well as inhibit energy metabolism and bronchoconstrictor response. This chemical also inhibits the uptake of histamine by cells. 3-Methyl histamine dihydrochloride has been used for analytical purposes, such as the determination of carcinine in foods and monoclonal antibody production.
