Methyl valerimidate, hydrochloride (MV) is a drug that can be used to treat ventricular dysfunction. It is a deprotecting agent that removes the protective groups from proteins in order to make them more reactive. MV has been shown to have congestive effects on the heart, and it may also increase cyclic AMP levels in the heart, which can lead to cardiovascular risks. The drug has been shown to increase angiotensin II levels in rats. Angiotensin II is an important hormone for regulating blood pressure and maintaining cardiovascular health. MV has also been shown to inhibit cholesterol synthesis in rats, as well as inhibiting cardiac contractility and reducing glaucoma-related intraocular pressure.
