Description :
3-Methyl-1,2-benzisoxazole is an organic compound that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of p38 kinase. 3-Methyl-1,2-benzisoxazole binds to the hydrophobic pocket of the p38 kinase and stabilizes it in its active conformation, preventing ATP binding and thus inhibiting the enzyme's activity. The molecular ion peak at m/z 191 was assigned by electron impact ionization on a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. 3-Methyl-1,2-benzisoxazole can be synthesized by reacting 1-(3'-methylphenyl)-3-(4'-methoxy)benzene with sodium azide in methanol.
