Description

Methyl 4,4-dimethoxyacetoacetate is an organic solvent that has been used in the reduction of carbohydrates. It has also been used as a reactant in type reactions and as a dehydrating agent. Methyl 4,4-dimethoxyacetoacetate can be prepared by catalytic reduction of formaldehyde with borohydride. The ionic liquid form of methyl 4,4-dimethoxyacetoacetate can be synthesized from isopropyl alcohol and hydroxylamine. This reagent can be used for the asymmetric synthesis of various types of compounds.
