Description

2-Methyl-5H-dibenzazepine is an organic compound that belongs to the group of anthranilic acids, which are naturally occurring in microalgae. It is a volatile liquid that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against certain bacteria, including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. 2-Methyl-5H-dibenzazepine inhibits the production of biogenic amines, such as tyramine and trimethylamine, by inhibiting the enzyme monoamine oxidase. This compound also has preservative properties due to its ability to inhibit the growth of microorganisms by binding to cell membrane receptors and preventing nutrient uptake. 2-Methyl-5H-dibenzazepine is used in chromatographic assays for the determination of chlorella content in dietary supplements or spirulina content in pharmaceuticals.
