Description

5-Methylhexanol is a glycol ether that has a chloride group attached to the hydroxyl group. It is soluble in water and reacts with metals in the form of organometallic compounds. 5-Methylhexanol has been shown to inhibit the growth of endophytic fungus, which are fungi that live on plants without causing any harm. In addition, this compound can be used as a solvent for polyvinyl, which is a type of plastic. 5-Methylhexanol can also be used as a chemical intermediate for the production of other chemicals such as cyclohexanone or fatty acids.
