Description

1-Methylpiperidine-2-ethanol is a macaronesian amine that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of various organic compounds. It has a hydroxyl group with one hydrogen atom and one oxygen atom, which is attached to the left side of the molecule. The compound has two functional groups: the amine and the alcohol. 1-Methylpiperidine-2-ethanol reacts through a nucleophilic substitution reaction mechanism and can be made by reacting piperidine with ethanol. This compound is used in the manufacture of butyl rubber, perfumes, paints, and plastics. It also has uses as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and pesticides. 1-Methylpiperidine-2-ethanol emits vapors that are absorbed by air molecules when heated, which causes it to react chemically with other substances nearby.
