It has been found to be effective in preventing seizures induced by pentylenetetrazole and isoniazid, as well as in reducing neurotoxicity caused by thiosemicarbazide and chroman. 6-Methoxy-4-Chromanone belongs to the class of carbamazepine, an anticonvulsant drug that inhibits hmg coa reductase and mevinolin reductase. Carbamazepine also has an effect on bicuculline and hmg coa reductase.
