• Description: 7-Methylindole-3-acetic acid is a metabolite of indomethacin. It is excreted in the urine and has been found to be present in the tissues of monkeys. 7-Methylindole-3-acetic acid is excreted by the kidneys and it is not known how much of this compound is reabsorbed into the body. 7-Methylindole-3-acetic acid can be metabolized to form other metabolites, including 2,4,5,6 tetrahydropyridine (2,4,5,6 THP), which has been shown to produce DNA damage in rats. The metabolites are then excreted from the body through urination and feces.
