Description

Methyl-2-hydroxy-3-pyrazinecarboxylate (MHP) is a solvent with a high boiling point that is used as a carboxylic acid. MHP is an aromatic heterocyclic compound and has been shown to have nutritional and microbial properties. MHP has been shown to be able to hydroxylate alcohols and amines, which can make it useful in the production of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and other organic chemicals. It also has enzymatic activity that can be used for the synthesis of other compounds. The solubility of MHP makes it a solvent for many types of chemical reactions, including those involving hexachloroethane.
