Description :
5-Methyl-2-furoic acid is a metabolite of histidine degradation. It is formed by the oxidation of 5-methyl-2-furoic acid by hydrogen chloride to form formaldehyde and subsequently methylation. It has been shown to have anticancer activity in some experiments.
