Description :
2-Methylbenzene-1-carbothioamide is a natural compound that is used as an antimicrobial agent. It binds to metal ions, such as copper and zinc, and prevents them from participating in the bacteria's metabolic pathways. This binding inhibits bacterial growth and leads to cell death. The compound has been shown to be efficient against Gram-positive bacteria, including those resistant to antibiotics. 2-Methylbenzene-1-carbothioamide also has potent antiinflammatory activity in animal models of inflammatory pain and arthritis. Furthermore, it has been shown to have anticancer activity when tested in mice.
