Description :3-(Methylthio)thiophene is a compound that is used for the treatment of wastewater. It has been found to have an interaction with organic acids and electrochemical polymerization, which may lead to synergistic interactions. The compound has been shown to be able to prevent the formation of polymers by preventing the cross-linking of carboxyl groups. 3-(Methylthio)thiophene can also be used as a pesticide and can be prepared as a sample for nmr spectroscopy. 3-(Methylthio)thiophene has been shown to have a number of functional properties and it is theorized that this may be due to its alkyl substituents.
