Methyl 2-(aminosulfonyl)benzoate (AMSBA) is a chemical that is used for wastewater treatment. It has been shown to be effective in removing organic contaminants from water. AMSBA undergoes a hydrolysis reaction with ethyl formate and hydrochloric acid, forming methyl anthranilate. The diazonium salt formed can then react with sodium hydroxide to produce hydroxide ions, which neutralize the wastewater. AMSBA has also been shown to have solubility data at different pH levels and can be crystallized by adding diazonium salt and sodium hydroxide solution to a mixture of ethyl formate and hydrochloric acid.
