2'-Methyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-carbaldehyde is a chemical that can be activated to form an organocatalytic reaction. The rate of the reaction can be increased by using chalcone or aldehydes as substrates and quinoxalines as products. 2'-Methyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-carbaldehyde has been used in the synthesis of amines and quinoxalines. It has also been shown to enhance the reactivity of thiourea in chloride solution. 2'-Methyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-carbaldehyde is often used as an intermediate in organic synthesis.
