Description

Magnesium nitrate is a chemical compound with the formula Mg(NO3)2. It is a white crystalline solid that is insoluble in water and soluble in hot water, alcohol, and ether. The salt is used as an industrial chemical and has many uses in wastewater treatment. Magnesium nitrate can be used to remove hydrogen fluoride from drinking water, which can be harmful to health. The salt also reduces the amount of calcium pantothenate required for the reaction solution by acting as an antioxidant. Magnesium nitrate has been shown to have antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to react with hydrogen peroxide and prevent the formation of hydroxyl radicals.
