2-(4-Methylphenyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroimidazo[2,1-b][1,3]benzothiazole hydrobromide is a novel agent that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of sirtuin (SIRT) enzymes and consequent induction of apoptosis in cancer cells. The drug also inhibits the production of mononucleotides that are essential for DNA synthesis and RNA transcription. 2-(4-Methylphenyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroimidazo[2,1-b][1,3]benzothiazole hydrobromide has been tested in clinical trials for the treatment of depression.
