Description

Monolaurin is a natural compound that has been shown to be effective against aurease, sephadex g-100, monolaurin, and monocytogenes. It is also an antimicrobial and can be used in the prevention of bacterial growth. Monolaurin has antibacterial efficacy against Gram-positive bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Streptococcus pyogenes, which are difficult to treat with antibiotics. This agent is also active against Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Neisseria meningitides, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The anti-bacterial activity of monolaurin is due to its ability to disrupt the cell membrane by binding to the fatty acids on the surface of bacterial cells.
