Trans-4-Methylcyclohexane carboxylic acid is an organic compound that can be found in the biosynthesis of fatty acids. It is also a metabolite of caproic acid, which is the main component of natural palm oil. Trans-4-Methylcyclohexane carboxylic acid has been shown to possess immunosuppressive and anti-diabetic activities. This compound can be synthesized from chloride and naphthenic acid or from carbon sources such as glycerol, glucose, or xylitol. Trans-4-Methylcyclohexane carboxylic acid is a polycarboxylic acid with antidiabetic activity due to its ability to inhibit intestinal maltase and sucrase enzymes.
