Description

Magnesium acetate tetrahydrate is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and is used as a nutritional supplement. It is produced by the reaction of magnesium carbonate with an aqueous solution of acetic acid. The particle size varies depending on the synthesis method used. Magnesium acetate tetrahydrate has been shown to be effective for treating diabetes mellitus, as it helps regulate blood sugar levels by promoting insulin release from pancreatic cells and increasing glucose uptake into these cells. This compound also has been found to be effective in reducing hiv infection rates, which may be due to its ability to increase the activity of CD4+ T-cells.
