Description

Alpha-methyl-DL-valine is an amino acid that is used as a building block for making proteins. It has optical activity, which means it can rotate polarized light in one direction. Alpha-methyl-DL-valine is used to make racemates, which are mixtures of two different enantiomers (mirror images). It is also used for the manufacture of ion exchange resins and as a reagent in organic synthesis.
