3-Methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde is a thuringiensis that is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Enterobacter aerogenes, with no effect on Lactobacillus acidophilus. 3-Methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde is effective in acidic environments and can be used as an antimicrobial agent for food packaging. This compound has been optimized for oral administration and has efficiencies in the cytosol, which may be due to its ability to bind bidentate ligands.
