Methyl Nonadecafluorodecanoate (MFND) is a fluorinated fatty acid. It is used as an organic solvent and as a precursor in the synthesis of polymers. MFND has been shown to be capable of inducing patterning in polymer films with high resolution and good throughput. MFND has been demonstrated to be effective for the introduction of fluorine into polymers, which can be useful for radiation-sensitive applications. MFND is also used as a reagent for alkylation reactions, such as the introduction of chloroalkyl groups to polymers. MFND is activated by chemical ionization at low temperatures, which makes it suitable for use in mass spectrometry.
